Menus, due to their particular functioning and composition (starters, mains, etc.), have a different typology than other products. With Revo XEF, you can configure and create as many menus as your business requires.

Before using them in the app, it is necessary to perform some previous configurations. Refer to this article to learn how to manage menus in the back-office.

1. HOW TO ENTER MENUS IN THE APP

Once menus are created in the back-office, it is important to decide how to manage them in the app. There are two ways to enter menus:

1. Quick Entry NOT Activated:

Menus are managed individually. In other words, each time you tap on a menu, it will prompt you for each of the dish orders it consists of until you reach the last one.

Following the example in the image:

  • Select a starter, a main, a dessert, and a drink. To move from one to another, simply select the dish orders at the top or swipe left to right to switch from one dish order to another.

Note: In the back-office, you can decide whether each dish order can be selected as a single option, multiple options, one option that is mandatory, to select all products by default, or customize it.

  • Tap on to add the menu to the order.

2. Quick Entry ACTIVATED:

With this option activated, multiple menus are managed simultaneously. Speed and agility are gained.

When you tap on a menu, a screen appears asking for the number of menus you want to manage at once. For example: At table number 1, there are 2 diners who want a menu. We selected 2.

Note: If you need to select more than 6, you can tap on Others and enter the desired number in the pin pad that appears.

Once the number of menus is selected, the product selection screen is displayed.

  • : By tapping the pencil, we can add notes to the selected products.

  • : The numbers of different diners will appear here for adding their dishes.

  • |: If a diner joins or has to leave, we can edit it here.

  • : The number of diners is displayed here.

  • By tapping on the that appears on the product, we can delete it in case of an error or change of mind by the diners.

FAQ ABOUT MENUS

2. How to activate quick entry or simplified view in Revo Xef?

These two options can be configured on each device. You can find these options in Revo Xef Preferences:

  • Go to the REVO menu r.

  • Tap on Preferences.

  • Look for the Menu section:

3. Which option is most effective?

It depends a bit on the type of business and the way each one operates, but in general terms, it is recommended to use quick entry for conventional menus (with starters, mains, desserts, etc.), as it is faster.

While quick entry deactivated is recommended when using the Menu typology for products such as Burgers, Pizzas, or other items where the customer chooses the ingredients, creating a customized product.

4. What is the simplified view used for?

With the simplified view activated, as we can see in the image on the right, the products that make up the menu are not displayed. However, with this option deactivated, they are displayed.

Note: By default, the simplified view is deactivated. This function is only applicable in the app. That is, whether the simplified view is activated or not, when the order ticket is printed, the products of the menu will always be printed.

5. Can a first course be selected as a second, or a second as a first?

The answer is YES, but only with quick entry activated. In this way, if one of the diners wants two starters instead of a starter and a main, it can be done as follows:

1. Tap on the menu.

2. Select 2 menus.

3. Select the 2 starters and 1 main.

4. When you are on mains, swipe your finger to the right, and the starters will be visible, but with the mains order selected.

5. Select a first course as a second.

6. Finally, select the desserts and drinks.

7. Tap on to confirm.

6. When I want to add a menu, I see the following message: Incomplete menu. Do you want to complete it? Continue / Complete

This message appears when using quick entry for menus and the products have not been selected in one of the dish orders. It is common for this to happen when selecting drinks, starters, and mains, but desserts are ordered later. In this case, the Revo XEF app displays this message warning you that the menu is incomplete:

  • Continue: If you tap continue, the menu will be added to the order without desserts.

  • Complete: If you tap complete, you must select the desserts and then tap the button to confirm and add the menus to the order.

7. Once a menu is added to the order, can it be modified?

Indeed, a menu can be modified once added to the order or even after it has been printed.

To add, delete, or modify products in a menu, tap on the that appears on the menu; it will open the previous menu entry window, where you can manage it.

Note: If the order has already been printed and the menu is modified, on the printers or KDS where the products are assigned, the eliminated products will be sent in negative, and the new products will be added.

8. Drinks with a cost have been entered in an order, and the customer orders a menu that includes the drinks. What can we do?

Sometimes, diners sitting at a table first order drinks. In this case, waiters add the drinks with a cost to the order. Subsequently, the same diners indicate that they want to order a menu where the drinks are included in the menu price and do not have an individual cost. Revo XEF has the perfect solution for this issue. Let's see an example.

1. Tap on a table and select 3 diners.

2. Add 3 drinks and print.

3. Then, add 3 menus. Add the starters, mains, and desserts. The dessert can be optional, i.e., it can be entered later.

Note: When entering the 3 menus, do NOT select the drink since we will move the drinks we added earlier with a cost to the menu.

4. Once we have the 3 menus plus the 3 drinks in the order, perform the gesture: swipe with your finger over the drinks from left to right. The Actions option appears. Tap on it:

5. Tap on Move to menu and select the menu to which you want to add them. They will automatically be included in the menu.

Important:

  • The number of drinks to move to the menu must be equal to or less than the number of menus. In other words, you cannot transfer 4 drinks to 3 menus. In this case, the drinks should first be separated, and only 3 can be moved. The fourth drink will be charged separately.

  • Only drinks that appear in the menu's drink list can be moved. In other words, drinks with an extra cost that are not normally in the menu's list cannot be transferred. For example, a glass of premium wine.

9. When adding a menu for several diners, a new diner is added. Should I delete all changes and start over?

Absolutely NOT! With Revo XEF, you can easily add or remove diners at any time while selecting the menu for the other diners.

Simply, as we have seen before, on the menu screen, tap on the button to add a new diner or tap on to remove one or more diners.

Then, tap on -- and delete the products for the diner who has been removed from the menu. Or if a new diner has been added, move through each category to select the products.
